Application
Please copy the application from the text box below and post as an entry in the journal you intend to use for your character. Once completed, link to your application in a comment to this entry. All comments will be screened for your privacy! Once an application is submitted, bear in mind that we do adds Wednesday and Sunday nights at around 8PM (CST) so it may be a few days until you will hear back from us depending on when you submit. Applications must be received by midnight the night before adds are done in order to be considered for that round. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to drop us a line. Before you apply be sure to look at the Wanted and Unwanted Characters! To get an idea as to what it is we are looking for in applications depending on the type of character you are applying for, please feel free to look at these sample applications: Civilians - Ashley Ketteridge OOC INFORMATION Name: Email/AIM: CDJ: Not required! Timezone: How did you find out about us? Were you referred or was it in an ad community or...? We're nosy. THE BASICS Full Name: Age and Birthday: House and Graduation Year: Please look here when choosing their Hogwarts year and house. Be aware of the already claimed spots. Current Location: Where do they live? Blood Status: Sexual Orientation: Marital Status: Family: A list is fine, but please include their Hogwarts years and house for the Graduation List. Be aware of the already claimed spots. GAME INVOLVEMENT Current Job: If no job, explain what hobby or task takes up the majority of their day-to-day life. Are they a boss? A minion? What specifically do they do? Political Group: Is your character a member of the Order of the Phoenix or the Death Eaters? If this doesn't apply to your character, simply put N/A. Political Knowledge: If your character is a member of the Order of the Phoenix or the Death Eaters, who knows about their involvement in their friends and/or family? If your character is NOT a member of either group, do they know the identity of any Death Eaters or Order members? Skills: If your character is a member of the Order of the Phoenix, the Death Eaters, or the DMLE, please elaborate what their relevant skills are to their organization. If a member of more than one, please discuss more than one set of skills. In particular we are interested in Order members – since this is a secret group who are recruiting the best and brightest, each member needs to bring something powerful and unique to the table. Politics: This is the meat and potatoes of our application. We want to know what your characters' political opinions are, and we want to know why they feel that way. See this page for detailed descriptions of the political parties and movements of which they might be affiliated. Please keep in mind that the war has been in full-swing for several years at the start of Days That Were, so truly neutral characters will be rare. Likewise, characters that have not yet chosen a side will be rare. If your character pretends to believe one thing politically in public and one thing privately, this is also the place to put it. In that vein, please be realistic about your characters' opinions: if they are a Death Eater or are in a Death Eater family and do not share that mindset, they will probably be ostracized at best and killed at worst thanks to Voldemort's abilities with Legilmency. Severus Snape is the only successful Death Eater who secretly has doubts about Voldemort in canon, and will remain so. Likewise, the Order of the Phoenix is a fringe group composed of radicals and are, by and large, not well-known. Supporting a "terrorist organization" will not be looked-on kindly by the majority of witches and wizards. We don't mean to sound picky here, but we will be looking most closely at this section of the application, so consider your character most carefully here. Past War Involvement: Write about their involvement with the war up to this point (January 1981). Do they know someone who died? Were they involved in one of the many Death Eater attacks? You don't need tons of detail (that's for the history section of the application!) but definitely let us know if there is anything specific to note. If you want to add in your own history (ie: someone dying in a one-off attack) that's fine too – if you're accepted we'll add it in to the timeline. Use this timeline to answer this question; it's got a lot of information about the different attacks that have happened to the wizarding population up to this point. War Effort: Are they a member or active in any of these War Effort drives? Describe their involvement if so. If this question doesn't apply, simply put N/A. DETAILS 20 Word Sentence Describing Your Character: Personal History: Please describe your characters' history up to February 1981. We ask for a minimum of at least two paragraphs. You will notice, however, that a personality section is not included in this application. We'd like to see how their history has impacted their personality, so please explain both in this section. If you would prefer to do history and personality separately, you are free to do so. OTHER STUFF Canon Information: Does your character have any canon information about them? A link to HP Lexicon or HP Wiki is fine! Quote: A short quote that describes your character's personality. Don't forget to include who said the quote! PB: Please link to two high-quality images of your chosen PB. SAMPLES First Person: Write a journal entry sample specific to this character. This is required for every application.
